Coffee, Cup of Joe, a Cuppa, Java
Caffeine is king for most college students and, while generally the most economically savvy way of getting it is making it at home, most students choose to obtain their “bean juice” via more expensive and more social ways. Since these shops are peaceful and quiet, they are my top choice of study spots in Jacksonville. Even if you aren’t a coffee lover, coffee & tea houses are popping up everywhere. They are the perfect places to meet to study, or for a first date or even just to sit and read a book. Coffee houses just make you feel welcome and at home. There is no shortage in Jacksonville including some on and some off-campus. They are also common places for dates, meetups, and hangouts due to the ease of conversation that seems to flow while drinking a dark roast or a cappuccino.
- Alyona’s – On Atlantic Avenue, make sure to try some of their pumpkin pie lattes!
- Good Chi Coffee – Just a comfortable spot to have a cup of coffee, pastry, or juice.
- Lucky Goat – this is the hottest new place to meet friends. Next to UNF on Beach Blvd, Lucky Goat is ideal for impromptu meetings, study sessions, or casual conversations.
- Sippers Coffeehouse– Located within minutes of UNF. Besides delicious coffee, they offer gluten-free doughnuts!
- Southern Grounds and Co – “A great cup of coffee connects people, starts conversations, and creates community.” Located in Neptune Beach. Worth the drive.
- Starbucks – Starbucks is a household name and they offer coffees, teas and so much more. The location on campus is easy to socially distance with friends.
- The Coffee Grinder – This eclectic shop is perfect for day appointments or even a nighttime date. Coffee is served in the morning and beer and wine are served at night.
Most places are requiring masks to be worn in their stores. However, this doesn’t seem to be a deterrent for friends, dates, and study groups to get together.
