Every year, there is competition to get into your first choice, especially with so many students requesting on-campus housing. My daughters both lived in traditional dorms and enjoyed it- it allows you to meet many freshmen. I would suggest if living in an apartment-style dorm is your only choice, you consider looking at some of the off-campus housing that is near to UF>

I applied for housing in October so I could have priority building selection and I got accepted as a freshman now. I really want an apartment style dorm, do you know how competitive it is to get lakeside , keys or Beaty ? thank you

You could apply to live in Windsor Hall which are private dorms most similar to Ivy House. There are also UF dorms that cater to upperclassmen – mainly the Keys Complex or you could look at Infinity Hall which is more like an apartment complex than a UF dorm. It is a 15-minute walk to UF campus but you can walk or take the bus
