The University of Miami’s campus diversity amongst students has grown considerably over the years and UM vies to maintain an inclusive atmosphere; allowing all students to gain exposure, perceptions, global awareness, and a willingness to collaborate peacefully and freely. Whether serving as a forum for communication, helping students build strong social networks, or simply in pursuit of a welcoming space amongst other Hispanic or Latinx students; UM undoubtedly has a place where you will find your connections.

UM students have the opportunity to enroll in the College of Arts and Sciences Latin American Program to study the politics, economics, cultures, and societies of Latin America and the Caribbean. Students may want to choose a major, minor, or just enroll in some classes in this realm. There is also a fellowship and honors program associated with the Latin American Studies Program.

UM has sororities and fraternities that specifically recognize Hispanic students. Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Beta Sigma Chapter is one sorority that is part of their Greek life. The University of Miami coordinates several activities during Hispanic Heritage month, from September 15th to October 15th, yearly that provide an opportunity for the university community to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans. You will also find that there are scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 available to the Hispanic and Latino community. At present UM offers over 13 such scholarships.
