If it’s Broken, You Must Fix It

It’s gonna happen, so why not be prepared for it? Things break and finding the right place to fix it is a hassle that no one wants. Plus, it can be hard to help your students when they are so far away. So, we have suggestions in the UGA area to help with bikes, cars, phone repairs, and other fixes they might need. Even though most students walk or use the campus bus system, some will eventually need a car repair or a new bike tire, and of course, the inevitable new phone screen.

Listed below are some of the repair shops that we have found near UGA.

Bicycle Repairs

UGA offers four fix-it self-service bike repair stations on campus. The UGA mobile app lists their locations and then you can scan the QR code at the station and find instructions for repairs. Operation Safe Drive offers a one-day bike safety check prior to Thanksgiving break, but also offers pop-up bike repair sessions during different times of the year.

• BikeAthens offers “fix your own bike” nights throughout the year. They are located at 1075 W. Broad Street.

Automotive Repairs

At UGA, the Transportation and Parking Service hosts its Operation Safe Drive before the holiday break. Mechanics are on-hand to provide safety inspections to those using their vehicles to travel home for the holidays. Tire pressures and fluids are checked. They also service bikes at this event.
