There are a few things to consider when you try to sublet. First, check with your apartment and get any paperwork that is required. You want to make sure that you have all your legal bases covered and you aren’t breaking any rules. You are less likely to be held responsible for rent or damages caused by your sublessor if you haven’t cut any corners. After that, advertise! There are usually more apartments than renters, especially in the spring, so you want to line up someone early to take over your room. As soon as you know you need someone to take your spot you should get the word out.

Cover yourself by having all the legal paperwork completed. Finding someone to take over your lease can be tricky, but it’s not impossible if you follow these simple steps.
