Get Ready for the big game with these attire tips!
Football at the University of Georgia is a religion and the devotion that fans have towards the Bulldogs is simply unmatched. There are essentials to making a Saturday in Athens as perfect as can be, and outfits are definitely high up on that list. Thankfully, the University of Georgia’s colors, red & black, make outfit shopping way less complicated and the various shops in Athens make it very easy to have the perfect game day fit.
For the Girls!
Game Day is arguably the most important social event of the week, so everyone should know that it is full of posing, photo-taking, and Instagram posting. Therefore, you want to make sure you fit right in by wearing acceptable attire. Usually, September and early October games are hot and humid, so most girls choose to wear dresses, skirts, two-piece sets, and rompers.
Thankfully we get to accessorize with snakeskin, cheetah, and stars, which pair perfectly with the bright red and black that are almost mandatory to be worn as a Georgia student and fan. As game-days cool off in late October and November, most girls transition into pants and bell-bottomed jeans. Once it gets cold, every store in Downtown Athens will have an assortment of red, black, white, and snakeskin bell-bottoms that will pair perfectly with turtlenecks, graphic tees, long-sleeved bodysuits, jean jackets, and sweaters.
Most girls do not dress down for games, therefore you will not see a lot of athletic clothing, t-shirts, or regular blue jeans. Home games are naturally dressier than away games, but most girls’ away game attire is composed of jerseys, black jeans or skirts, and jean jackets OR sweaters and black jeans. It is very rare to see a UGA girl in lounge clothes on game day.
Lastly, no gameday outfit is complete until you put on the pair of statement earrings that you bought or borrowed to perfectly match the outfit of choice. Gameday earrings can be found at any boutique in Athens and there are also tons of UGA students who make their own jewelry and make pieces specifically for games. Now, all you have to do is grab your clear purse, and you are ready to go call the Dawgs!

For the Guys!
Boys have it so much easier than girls when it comes to game day. September and early October call for khaki shorts and UGA polos or simply red, black, and white polos which can be found online or at any store downtown. Most of the time, once it turns cold in late October and November, guys make the switch to long-sleeve button-downs and khaki pants. Throughout the entire season though, some guys choose to complete their outfits with a UGA ball cap or switch it up and wear a jersey of a commonly known current player or of a legend from the past. Just like the girls, it is very uncommon for boys to dress down and be casual with athletic clothing for game days.
