We know you care too!

Committing to the University of Georgia means that you have now become a part of the Bulldog Nation for life. UGA’s commitment to its students’ wellbeing shows that they do care and want to make sure that your experience is one that improves your mental health, keeps you safe, and allows you to feel comfortable on campus. The creation of UGA Cares within the Office of Student Affairs allows workers and mentors to address each student’s concern individually and help make customized networks of support and resources that will help students achieve their goals.

UGA Cares aids students in contacting professors, advisors, and instructors when students might need extra time, help, or care due to specific circumstances and acts as a mediator and an advocate for the student’s wellbeing. They have created tons of different programs specific to the needs of students and hope to create a safe community for its Dawgs through a variety of programs. Reach out by phone, 706-542-7774, or email, sco@uga.edu, or visit their office within the Tate Center at UGA.

The programs provided through UGA Cares:

Aside from UGA Cares, the University Health Center has a multitude of resources like counseling services, #BeWellatUGA, and the Fontaine Center. The UGA counseling services are tasked with aiding students through different mental health-related situations and are available for students to talk to and gain insight, care, and help from. #BeWellatUGA is geared at helping students maintain both wellness and health classes throughout their experience at UGA. They do pop-ups throughout the semester to help students who need assistance in having a healthy body, a healthy mind, and a healthy life. The Fontaine Center works on alcohol and drug prevention, sexual assault care and prevention, as well as educational programming. This center works to help students who have been victims of sexual assault and crimes and aid them in their recovery process.

These programs are free for UGA Bulldogs so do not hesitate to reach out. UGA encourages students to not only reach out for support for themselves but to also report or refer a student of concern. The University of Georgia wants you to know that academic success is not the only thing that is important during your time here; your overall well being is just as important. We know that sometimes things happen, and for those unprecedented times, we recommend you check out our Trouble in Paradise blog.
